Chris Ortman, former VP of communications and corporate affairs for CreativeFuture, has moved to the Motion Picture Association of America as VP of corporate communications.
Ortman takes over for Kate Bedingfield, who stepped down to become communications director for Vice President Joe Biden in August. He reports to EVP for global comms., Laura Nichols, at the trade group for Hollywood's six major studios.
Ortman was previously deputy press secretary and spokesman for the US Department of Homeland Security and ran his own shop since exiting CreativeFuture in August. He also was a PR aide at the Democratic National Convention Commitee in 2008.
MPAA has also promoted Sam Netwon to deputy director, corporate comms.
