New York–based stock photography giant Shutterstock has appointed PR pro Siobhan Aalders to the role of vice president of communications.

Siobhan was previously president of Capstan Communications, where she led communications strategies for startups. Prior to that, she was at PR giant Ogilvy Public Relations, which she joined 2012 and served as executive vice president of that agency’s technology practice. Before Ogilvy, Aalders was senior vice president of worldwide communications and television at Weber Shandwick, which she joined in 2006, and was also European director of media relations for APCO Worldwide, which she joined in 2004. She also logged stints at Text 100 and Joe Public Relations. Siobhan’s former clients include Microsoft, IBM, Motorola, Nokia, Intel and Siemens.

At Shutterstock, Aalders will play a key role in developing the photography provider’s global communications strategy, ensuring that campaigns across the company’s armory of brands are aligned with its overall vision.

Shutterstock, which was founded in 2003, currently maintains a library of more than 70 million images, including stock photos, vector graphics and illustrations provided by more than 80,000 contributors.
