Alisa Agozzino, Ph.D., assistant professor of PR, Ohio Northern University, will succeed Tina McCorkindale, Ph.D., June 1 as adviser to the PRSA Student Society of America.

PRSSA has more than 10,000 members at hundreds of chapters in virtually all states in the U.S. as well as some chapters abroad.

Classes taught by Agozzino include Introduction to Public Relations, Public Relations Writing, Principles of Social Media, Public Relations Research, and Public Relations Campaigns. She also serves as ONU’s PRSSA adviser.

She has a Ph.D. and M.A. from Bowling Green State University and a B.A. from Ohio Northern University, Ada, Ohio. ONU, with 3,238 students and 653 faculty members, is a private, United Methodist Church-affiliated university founded by Henry Solomon Lehr in 1871. It is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and the North Central Assn. of Colleges and Schools.

Agozzino's main research interest lies in social media tools within the PR field. Her current research agenda examines how social media impacts different industries. From nonprofit, to admissions offices, to PR professionals, Agozzino is exploring how those using social media tools are doing so to effectively reach their target audiences to build and maintain beneficial relationships.

She is editor-in-chief for the PRSA Educator’s Academy newsletter and serves as co-chair of the Central Ohio PRSA PR committee. She has presented work at the National Communication Assn., Central States Communication Assn., Ohio Communication Assn., and International PR Research Conference (IPRRC) conferences.
