APCO Worldwide has brought on Kate Mitchell as a senior associate director in the firm’s food, consumer products and retail practice, based in its New York office. Mitchell most recently was a group manager for Weber Shandwick, with responsibility for consumer brand accounts in the food and beverage sectors. Consultancy Prosper Group has added Chevon Hicks to its roster of strategic advisors. Hicks was previously founder and executive creative director of Heavenspot, a web design firm that led digital and social campaigns for such brands as ABC Television, Amazon Originals, Focus Features, Fox, Hulu, Logitech, Mattel, Sony, Tumblr and Warner Bros. He also led the design and build-out of the music festival website Coachella.com. In 2015 he sold the firm to M&C Saatchi Worldwide. Hicks is also an adjunct professor at USC, lecturing on game interface design. “The addition of Chevon will offer our clients access to strategic and practical guidance toward building an ‘agency of the future’,” said Prosper Group managing partner Alex Halbur. “Chevon understands how agencies can successfully and profitably build creative, social, web and analytic offerings for delivery across all distribution channels.”

rbb Communications has named Lauren Bernat vice president, advertising, to lead account services for its advertising unit, OutOfTheBlue. Bernat joined the unit in 2009 and has served in various account services and management roles. She has spearheaded numerous multimedia campaigns that leverage branding, advertising and direct response strategies across multiple platforms. In her new role, Bernat serves as a strategic partner to clients, providing marketing counsel and management of account teams for Jackson Health System, Codina Partners’ Downtown Doral and Centurion brands: Bulla, Pisco y Nazca and Beehive. “OutOfTheBlue’s clients have long benefitted from Lauren’s creativity and commitment to excellent service, earning her this well-deserved promotion,” said rbb Communications president Lisa Ross.

Performance marketing company Pepperjam has named Matt Gilbert CEO. Gilbert comes to Pepperjam from the CEO spot at Kinetic, a social marketing services and technology company. Before that, he co-founded 500friends, which sold to Merkle, where he served as SVP and GM of the loyalty services group. “Gilbert’s experience scaling data-driven digital marketing businesses, combined with a deep passion for teaching clients how to leverage data and technology to maximize marketing effectiveness, made him the ideal choice to lead Pepperjam into the future,” said Pepperjam chairman of the board Stephen Davis.
