The Institute for Public Relations has launched The Bridge, a two-day conference (April 12-13) that is geared toward PR and corporate communications practitioners and academics.
Presented at the Georgetown University of Continuing Studies in Washington, D.C., the conference gives academics the opportunity to learn from senior-level executives, while also providing mid-to-senior-level executives with a chance to learn about the latest in public relations and communications research. With a limit of 125 attendees, The Bridge has been designed to offer participants a greater-than-usual opportunity to network and interact with the presenters.
Speakers at the conference are set to include Arthur W. Page Society president Roger Bolton; Washington Post director of strategic initiatives Jeremy Gilbert; Southwest Airlines SVP and chief communications officer Linda Rutherford; Lisa Ross, president of Edelman’s Washington D.C. office; and Pat Ford, Burson-Marsteller worldwide vice chair and chief client officer as well as a visiting professor at the University of Florida.
A reception will be held on April 12 at the National Press Club’s Holeman Lounge.
For more information, and to register, go to the Institute for Public Relations website.

“The Value of PR” was the theme of this year’s Communications Week, which included events in New York, Chicago, London and Germany that ran from Oct. 14 to 18.
Harold Burson's passion for client service, insatiable curiosity, humility and rock solid values are why the Memphis native is a PR legend, said Pat Ford, ex-vice chairman of B-M, at last night's unveiling of the Museum of Public Relations' collection of papers and mementoes of the 98-year-old executive.
