The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation has hired Marshall Stowell as its first-ever VP for communications. Before joining the Foundation, Stowell spent 14 years with global health organization Population Services International, most recently serving as VP for external relations and communications, with responsibility for all global communications efforts and leading US government relations on behalf of the organization. He previously worked with such organizations as Share Our Strength, Greater DC Cares, AID Atlanta, the Atlanta Botanical Garden and the High Museum of Art. In his new role, Stowell leads an in-house team of communicators and oversees all external and internal communications for the Hilton Foundation, which seeks to improve the lives of disadvantaged people throughout the world.

PR Talent search firm has recruited Matt Batt as managing director of its Chicago office. Batt comes to the firm from Zeno Group, where he most recently served as senior VP, managing such consumer clients as Sears Holdings, Master Lock and Elkay, in addition to having responsibility for hiring and supporting teams across Zeno’s consumer, digital and corporate practices. He also started and ran his own PR consulting practice, Pipeline Media Relations. In his new post, Batt will lead the agency’s presence in the central US, including Milwaukee, Dallas and St. Louis.

Buffalo Groupe, LLC and its Buffalo Agency, which represents golf, sport and lifestyle brands, has named Derek Koenig chief creative and content officer. Koenig joins Buffalo from Discovery, Inc. where he was SVP creative for the company’s in-house agency, leading a team that supported the company’s businesses with marketing, promotion, short-form digital, VR and branded content campaigns. He also founded Two Step Consulting in Boulder, Colorado, where he worked with brands like Qwest, Sony, Nike and the Victors & Spoils creative crowd-sourcing agency. Prior to that, he served as CMO for Vail Resorts. Koenig will spearhead the building of Buffalo Studios, a new agency initiative that will create branded content.

Federal Advocates has hired Kip Talley as senior director of government affairs. Talley was previously chief of staff to Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), one of president Trump’s most prominent supporters in Congress. Before that, Talley served as senior director of federal affairs for trade association International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers and assistant director of governmental affairs for the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association. Federal Advocates was founded in 2006 by Michael Esposito, who serves on the Republican National Committee Chairman’s Advisory Board and is a member of the Trump Victory Finance Committee.
