American International Group names Lucy Fato global head of communications and government affairs, a newly created position. Fato takes on her new responsibilities in addition to remaining executive vice president and general counsel at the company. Before joining AIG in October 2017, she was managing director, head of the Americas and general counsel at global private investigative firm Nardello & Co., where she remains on the advisory board. She has also served as executive vice president and general counsel of McGraw Hill Financial (now known as S&P Global) and vice president, deputy general counsel and corporate secretary at Marsh & McLennan Companies. “Lucy has a deep understanding of the complex environment we operate in and already plays a central role in communicating with AIG’s stakeholders,” said AIG president and CEO-elect Peter S. Zaffino. AIG has also promoted Emily Garbaccio to global head of corporate communications, AIG, and global chief marketing and communications officer, General Insurance. Ms. Garbaccio joined AIG in August 2018 as global head of leadership and transformation communications, General Insurance. Her previous positions include vice president, communications at Kate Spade and senior director, brand publicity at JCPenney.

Cloud security company Zscaler has appointed Chris Kozup chief marketing officer. Kozup comes to Zcaler from the chief marketing position at Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company that provides wireless networking services. He has also served as senior vice president, global marketing at Nutanix and director, mobility and access switching marketing at Cisco. At Zscaler, Kozup is responsible for global marketing strategy and execution. “Chris’s successful track record as a marketing executive and his customer-centric mindset make him the ideal leader to help further accelerate Zscaler’s growth,” said Zscaler chairman and chief exective officer Jay Chaudhry.

The Public Affairs Council, the largest international association for public affairs professionals, has promoted Kelly Memphis, Victoria Ellington and Conrad Tolosa. Memphis will now serve as senior manager of government relations, overseeing programs and networks directed at helping members leverage best practices in government relations at the federal, state and local levels. Before coming to the council in 2018, she was state government affairs manager for the American College of Cardiology. Ellington has been promoted to manager of PAC and grassroots and works on developing programming to best equip members with the information and resources they need to successfully run a PAC or grassroots advocacy program. She joined the Council in 2019 from the Premium Cigar Association, where she was a government affairs program manager. Tolosa has been promoted to senior manager of web and online services, with responsibility for the Council’s website, video production and photography as well as virtual programming and online streaming production.
