Retale, the Germany-founded app that aggregates retail circulars for shoppers, has brought in a US head of corporate communications after launching here last year.

Tim Gray, a former journalist who handled communications for Blue Foundation Media and Mediaander.com, has joined Chicago-based Retale in the top US PR post.

Retale, owned by Bonial International Group, counts 60 retailers as customers of its location-based service, including Target, Kohl's and Toys "R" Us. The company said its app was downloaded one million times after its October launch in the US. It is available globally as kaufDA (Germany), bonial (France), Lokata (Russia), Ofertia (Spain), and Guiato (Brazil).

FleishmanHillard handles Retale's PR account.

Gray covered the finance, business and tech beats reporting for outlets like MSNBC, CBS Interactive and TechNewsdaily.com. He earlier reported for the Staten Island Advance.

Retale held a press conference in January with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to announce its US presence with plans to hire 60 staffers over the next several years.
