Republica co-founder/CEO Jorge Plasencia has received the 2018 BRAVO! Pioneer of the Year Award from the National Hispanic Public Relations Association, and Ilia Calderon, co-anchor of “Noticiero Univision,” has been named the 2018 BRAVO! Journalist of the Year. Plasencia co-founded Republica with Luis Casamayor in 2006, after holding leadership roles with Univision Radio, Estefan Enterprises and the Florida Marlins. Calderon has been with Univision since 2007, serving as co-anchor of “Noticiero Univision Edición Nocturna” and “Primer Impacto” before moving to the network’s flagship evening newscast. “Ilia and Jorge have been galvanizing our industry for decades and shaped the future for our next generation of journalist and communications leaders,” said national HPRA President Veronica Potes.
Gutenberg has received two Platinum 2018 dotCOMM Awards for its World Food India 2017 campaign. The WFI effort was recognized in the social media marketing and social campaign categories. The dotCOMM Awards are administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, which consists of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, media production and free-lance professionals. Gutenberg’s seven-month strategy included positioning WFI as a landmark event for the global food processing industry; showcasing India’s unique position as one of the largest food producers globally and driving widespread awareness and international participation. The initiative extended across owned and paid media, including website and social media planning and development.

S&A’s digital content marketing platform, The North Carolina 100, won in the category of newsletters, electronic and email, and its website design for the Hope for Haiti Foundation won in the category of most improved website. The APEX Awards are sponsored by Communications Concepts Inc., a company that advises publishing, PR and marketing professionals on best practices to improve their publications and communications programs. The international competition is held annually for corporate and nonprofit publishers, editors, writers and designers who create print, web, electronic and social media.
