The New York Financial Writers’ Association will put on the 76th edition of its annual Financial Follies Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the New York Hilton Midtown. The event satirizes—and puts to music—a roundup of current events. Last year’s Follies tackled quantitative easing, regulatory fines and the first year of president Trump. Year number two is a likely topic for the Financial Follies of 2018. Individual seats run $450, with a table for 10 going for $4,000. Temple University’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America has been chosen to host PRSSA’s Mid-Atlantic regional conference, themed “Becoming a Full Service PRo,” March 22-23, 2019. Temple PRSSA, which is the largest and longest standing chapter in the Philadelphia region, is presenting the conference in conjunction with its 50th anniversary. The conference will address the need for modern public relations professionals to be full-service, no matter what kind of PR work they take on. It will offer attendees an opportunity to connect with professionals, guest speakers from a variety of industries and fellow PRSSA members. The American Society of Journalists and Authors is soliciting proposals for its 2019 NYC conference, to be held May 5-6, 2019 at the New York Downtown Marriott. The deadline for submitting proposals has been extended to Monday, October 22. The conference theme, “Collaboration Nation,” will explore the ways businesses build on each other's support to grow. ASJA is looking for submissions in four areas: Journalism, Content Marketing, Books, and the Business of Writing. Each session proposal must include a 3-4 sentence description of the proposed session along with the key takeaways, how the session will address diversity and a brief speaker bio.
