Museum

The Museum of Public Relations will look back at more than a century of women in public relations at a March 3 event. “PR Women Who Changed History” will discuss the legacy of such industry pioneers as journalist and activist Ida B. Wells; Betsy Plank, who played a central role in the creation of PRSSA in 1967; and Belle Moskowitz, who was campaign manager for Al Smith in his 1928 bid for the presidency. The event’s emcee will be Caryn Medved, professor, corporate communication and MA program director at CUNY’s Baruch College. APCO Worldwide founder and executive chairman Margery Kraus will lead a fireside chat, and the event’s participants are also set to include National Organization for Women founder Muriel Fox, Hunter Public Relations founder Barbara Hunter and Hunter CEO Grace Leong.

New York Women in Communications is hosting a free digital event on March 9 at 6 p.m. that will discuss the findings of its recent #WomenHeard report. “Weathering the Pandemic and Working Together for a Brighter Tomorrow” will also present strategies and solutions to help women in the communications industry navigate the financial, mental health and familial impacts of the pandemic. Moderated by WomenAdvancing.org/Media Village editor Kate Byrne, the event will feature HIMSS chief experience officer Georgia Galanoudis (who is also NIWICI president-elect), Bloomberg Media CMO Anne Kawalerski, The Balance editor-in-chief Kristin Meyers and NYWICI chief of programming Vita Harris.
