The Nonprofits Insurance Alliance Group has hired D.C.-based lobbying and PR firm InSight Public Affairs for help with financial and insurance matters on Capitol Hill.

Nonprofits Insurance Alliance Group is a group of nonprofit insurers that provides liability and property insurance exclusively for the nonprofit sector.

NIAGG

The Santa Cruz-based insurance cooperative, which was founded in 1989, provides coverage to more than 17,000 nonprofit organizations in more than 30 states.

NIAG has hired InSight to advocate on behalf of H.R. 6292, or The Nonprofit Property Protection Act. Introduced in June by Rep. Dennis Ross (R-FL), that bill would expand the types of commercial insurance that Risk Retention Groups such as NIAG can offer nonprofits. Due to the Liability Risk Retention Act of 1986, RRGs are currently only allowed to provide commercial liability coverage to their customers.

The account will be managed by InSight co-founder Dana Thompson, who previously directed the Washington office of former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley and was a top aide to Reps. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) and Maxine Waters (D-CA).

Before launching InSight in 2017, Thompson was also a former principal at Podesta Group, where he handled tech, education and transportation clients.
