The City of Virginia Beach, seeking to stoke an increasing number of Canadian summer visitors, is on the hunt for PR representation in Quebec.

vbThe VB Convention and Visitors Bureau wants an experienced travel trade and PR rep to target the Quebec market, a key draw for the city. Over the past five years, visitors from Ontario and Quebec have roughly doubled to compose nearly 12% of all summer visitors to the area. That's ahead of New York, Philadelphia and the nearby Roanoke-Lynchburg market.

The city wants a firm or consultant to foster ties with travel journalists and writers, as well as retail and trade travel agencies and tour operators.

While PR is the focus of the resulting pact, other duties like marketing and social media are also expected.

Proposals are due Oct. 10.

BCF handles the CVB's domestic PR account.

The RFP can be downloaded from the city's procurement site.
