metraMetra, the commuter railroad for Chicago, is looking for outside PR counsel to bolster its communications team on the media and public relations and crisis communications front.

Mack Communications of Naperville, Ill., is the incumbent and won a three-year $500K pact in late 2011. The rail line worked with Culloton Strategies for crisis PR amid a 2010 misconduct scandal.

Metra, officially known as the Northeast Illinois Regional Commuter Railroad Corp., runs 11 rail lines over 1,155 miles of track among Chicago and its suburbs, serving around 300K trips per day over a six-county region.

The railroad plans to award a three-year contract to a single firm with experience in public transit PR and media relations.
