The 32-year-old global charity Starlight Children's Foundation is calling for PR agency proposals to serve the organization in the US and abroad.

starlightThe Los Angeles-based foundation, which started with entertainment industry ties as a wish-list organization in the 1980s before expanding, has operations and affiliates in Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Israel and is looking to expand overseas. An RFP released this week calls for pitches from full-service PR agencies to serve as global AOR.

Starlight partners with more than 1,750 health facilities and pediatric hospitals globally. The group updated its brand in 2013 "after years of messaging the negative aspects of chronic illness and assigning emotions to families" participating in its programs, according to the RFP.

Starlight's programs include providing comfort kits, technology devices, mobile entertainment, wish lists, child-friendly hospital environments, and an online community launched in 1995 by Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf and Steven Spielberg.

Proposals are due Jan. 30, 2015. Christopher de Haan, senior director, global brand, is heading the search. He told O'Dwyer's the search is an open process. "Any agency that has the capacity to support global PR efforts on Starlight's behalf are welcome to submit proposals," he said.
