Mississippi wants to climb the golf destination leaderboard and seeks a PR firm to drive that push.

golfThe Magnolia State's economic development agency, the Mississippi Development Authority, released an RFP on March 12 for a firm to provide golf media relations and PR to its tourism division.

Two press familiarization trips per year are expected, along with PR support work, proactive media relations on an ongoing basis, and other tactics to secure earned media for the state in an overall bid to position "Mississippi as a preferred golf destination," according to the RFP.

The state boasts the "Golf Coast" along the Gulf of Mexico and hosts an annual PGA tournament event, the Sanderson Farms Championship.

The Jackson-based entity plans to award a three-year contract with a single option year.
