International human rights group Christian Solidarity International has tapped public affairs firm Global Strategic Communications Group for help with the launch of its No Arms for Terrorists campaign.

Westlake Village, CA-based Christian Solidarity International is a non-partisan non-profit that seeks to aid the victims of religious persecution abroad. GSCG will advocate on Capitol Hill on behalf of the organization’s campaign to support two bi-partisan bills making their way through Congress, H.R. 608 and S. 532, otherwise collectively known as the “Stop Arming Terrorists Act.”

That bill would prohibit the U.S. government from providing funds or support to any individual or group affiliated with al-Qaida, ISIS, Jabhat Fateh al-Sham or other groups associated with terrorist organizations.

The U.S. government has armed and funded several Syrian opposition groups throughout the course of that country’s ongoing civil war, groups such as the Free Syrian Army, which some now allege have been hijacked by terrorist organizations such as ISIS.

Syrian militant group Nour al-Din al-Zinki, which previously received U.S. funds as well as arms support, drew international attention last year when a video circulated on the Internet showing members of that group beheading a boy who they claimed was a pro-Assad spy. Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia have also lent support to that group.

Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whose government has long been accused of supporting al-Qaeda-linked rebel groups in Syria, said in December that he had “confirmed evidence” that U.S.-led coalition forces were supporting terrorist groups in Syria, though he did not elaborate on those claims.

SATA was assigned to a congressional committee in January. It was introduced in the House by Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI). A companion bill was introduced in the Senate by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY).
