Tusk Strategies has hired Beth DeFalco, who had served as resigned New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s chief spokesperson for transportation issues, as managing director.

She handled PR for the introduction of a $100B statewide infrastructure plan and coordinated messaging for the redevelopment of LaGuardia Airport and replacement of the Tappan Zee Bridge.

DeFalco in 2016 became communications director for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which oversees the New York City subway/bus system, Long Island Railroad and MetroNorth commuter rail systems.

She exited Team Cuomo in 2017 for a communications consultant post at Bloomberg Philanthropies and joined Mercury Public Affairs in 2019, where she exited last month.

Bradley Tusk, co-founder of the PA/political consulting shop, ran Mike Bloomberg’s 2009 campaign for NYC mayor and was communications director for Senator Chuck Schumer.
