Maccabee picked up LifeSpeak, Toronto-based digital platform, as its U.S. public relations and marketing communications shop. LifeSpeak offers employers a library of over 1,500 videos, podcasts, chat sessions and tip sheets that allow them to provide their employees with online training and well-being advice. The company is Minneapolis-based Maccabee’s first Toronto client.

Agency33 Public Relations has set up shop as the first LGBT-focused firm in Nashville. The shop is led by Joey Amato, who most recently was publicity manager for Nashville-based Webster Public Relations, where he worked with clients including Dolly Parton and Cyndi Lauper. He's held positions at Sony Music New York, Relevant Communications and iHeart Radio, in addition to serving as publisher of Unite Magazine, an LGBT publication serving the Nashville market. Agency33 will help country and pop performers reach the LGBT demographic. It will also provide tour press for performers, and create digital media campaigns.

Chicago-based 3rd Coast PR has added media technology company Freevo to its client roster. A membership-based mobile app that was developed in partnership with restaurant-supply source Restaurant Depot, Freevo allows users to access free food and drinks at over 150 Chicago restaurants and coffee shops. 3rd Coast will focus on media relations and developing strategies to ensure the future success and expansion of the app.

HotelQuando

Nyack, NY travel, hospitality and lifestyle industry shop Carolyn Izzo Integrated Communications has been hired by HotelQuando, a Brazilian hospitality site and app that specializes in short-term hotel stays. Aimed largely at travelers who are stuck with long layovers or delayed flights, HotelQuando partners with accommodations that are close to airports in busy travel hubs in both Brazil and the U.S.
