Centrally located near the Gulf Coast, DeSoto County views itself as a premiere recreation and leisure destination for overnight stays.
It boasts of attractions such as the Arcadia Rodeo, Peace River campgrounds (canoe/RV rentals, airboat tours, horseback riding and fishing) and agri-tourism opportunities.
DeSoto County’s three percent transient tax, which funds tourism marketing, generated $84K during fiscal 2020/2011.
The RFP calls for a $30K budget for the remainder of the current fiscal year.
The County plans to issue a one-year contract with options to review for four additional one-year periods.
