The City of Newport News is seeking proposals from agencies specializing in marketing and advertising services.

The northern commonwealth city, which counts a population of nearly 200,000, is part of the Hampton Roads metropolitan area, which also includes Norfolk, Suffolk and Virginia Beach.

The Newport News Economic/Industrial Development Authority, the city’s business development arm, is looking for an agency that can provide a variety of marketing strategies and advertising services to increase business engagement, stimulate economic development and promote the city as a prime, affordable location for starting, relocating and expanding a business as well as experiencing an enjoyable quality of life. 

Scope of work includes: assisting staff with the creation of a marketing plan; serving as primary marketing contact with media sources; maintaining and providing design for the EDA website; social media content development; copywriting and creative design for ads, articles, advertorials, social media and other communications; proactively identifying new ideas for marketing opportunities; designing and producing the EDA’s Annual Report; obtaining photos for promotional materials; collaborating with tourism and communications staff for opportunities to promote the city; and attending at monthly marketing meetings.

Terms of the contract run for one year, with the option to renew at the city’s discretion for four additional one-year periods.

Proposals are due by 5:00 p.m. (ET) on Thursday, June 15 and should be submitted via the city’s e-procurement portal, OpenGov Procurement.
