Alaska has budgeted $1M for a firm to run a social marketing campaign to encourage Alaskans enrolled in the federally funded Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program to eat more fruits and vegetables.

The goal is to reduce diet related chronic disease and obesity among food stamp recipients.

“The campaign must maximize reach to both rural and urban target audiences, to positively change knowledge, attitudes, intentions and health behaviors,” according to the RFP.

The selected firm will create public education and campaign pieces and images for online channels, including banners, photos, texts and graphics for Facebook, X, Google, YouTube, and other channels.

It also will develop earned media opportunities via engaging with reporters, creating releases and organizing press conferences.

The campaign is to run over a five-year period.

Responses are due Nov. 17. Email them to Alaska Dept. of Public Health procurement specialist Todd Webster at [email protected].
