SaveOurWater

California is looking for a firm to handle media strategy and outreach for its statewide “Save Our Water” public education campaign.

Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a proclamation on Oct. 19, 2021 that extended the drought emergency to the 58 counties of the Golden State and urged people to step up their conservation efforts.

Though he rescinded the emergency last March following a series of atmospheric storms and heavy snows, many areas of the state continue to experience water supply shortages due to heavily depleted groundwater resources.

The Save Our Water campaign educates people about the severity of extreme weather that is projected to reduce the overall amount of water available to support Californians by 10 percent in 2040.

The program is considered vital for California to sustain climate resiliency by educating and encouraging Californians to make water conservation a permanent daily practice.

The selected firm will tackle the two priorities of the Save Our Water push.

The first priority is to encourage Californians to make conservation a way of life year-round, providing them with educational resources and tips to save water both inside and outside the home.

The second is to educate Californians on yard transformation, providing citizens with resources and tools to replace thirsty lawns with water-wise landscapes.

“Yard transformation is showcased as a beautiful, most scalable way to conserve water, as outdoor water use accounts for approximately 40% of the total water Californians use at home,” according to the RFP.

California plans to award a two-year contract.

Proposals are due April 2. Send them via express mail, UPS or Federal Express to:
