The Organization of American Women in Public Relations announced that it has launched a New York City chapter.

The Organization of American Women in PR USA

The organization was developed to advance the position of women in the field and connect women PR leaders across North America. It partners with businesses to promote opportunities and to enable groups of women in the profession to share ideas, contacts and experiences in a supportive community while advocating major issues affecting women working in PR today.

The network is a division of The Organization of Canadian Women in Public Relations Ltd.

A launch reception will occur at the Novotel Times Square New York on June 9, following the Global PR Summit New York. Speakers will include Pure Performance Communications CEO Deirdre Breakenridge, AirPR Chief Strategy Officer Rebekah Iliff, M studio Public Relations Director Shannon Furey and NKPR Inc. President Natasha Koifman.

Breakenridge and Furey will lead the New York City chapter. The chapter is currently searching for a chapter chair and vice chair.

The Organization of American Women in Public Relations in February named nine new members to serve on its national advisory council.
