Nathan Naylor, who directed communications for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, has rolled to BSA | The Software Alliance, the Washington trade group for large software makers like Apple, Microsoft and Autodesk.

Naylor takes the VP of global communications slot at the BSA, which works with Edelman on the PR front.

Naylor was previously deputy assistant secretary for PA at the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, before he decamped for the NHTSA in July 2013. He was comms. director to Sen. Harry Reid and an assistant White House press secretary during the Clinton administration.

BSA in 2012 split into two operating units – one focused on advocacy and a second zeroed in on software piracy. Matt Reid, who was VP of communications and later senior VP of external affairs at BSA, departed for Sard Verbinnen & Co last year.
