Bospar

Bospar is awarding a $20K grant to an educator as part of the agency’s campaign advocating against Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law. Applicants for the Bospar Human Rights Grant for Educators should be public or independent teachers or administrators in Florida who are on the front lines of the law’s impact. The grant can be used for continuing education or to fund a project related to helping the recipient’s local community. Its launch accompanies research commissioned by Bospar polling more than 3,000 adults, nationwide from 18 to over 65 years of age, about the bill and the political calculus of its advocates. A majority of respondents (65 percent) said the “Don’t Say Gay” bill is not necessary and 55 percent said they didn’t think the state’s primary schools should prohibit classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity.
