The Medical Academic Scientific Community Organization, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing Boston’s Longwood medical and academic area, has hired Laura Oggeri, who has served as Boston Mayor Martin Walsh’s chief communications officer since 2015, as vice president of communications and public affairs, effective Sept. 8. Before working for Walsh, Oggeri served as director of communications and senior policy advisor for then-Massachusetts Senate President Therese Murray, who is now a senior advisor at Rasky Partners. “Laura has been a key member of my team for almost six years, overseeing the communications strategy for the City of Boston and helping guide some of our biggest initiatives,” said Walsh in a statement.
FSB Public Affairs, a Core Strategic Group company, has brought on John Hooper as senior vice president. He joins comes to CSG from WPP digital strategy firm Group SJR, where he served as managing director, leading its public affairs practice. He was previously a principal at JWH Consulting, and has also managed the California Department of Education’s Washington, D.C. office. In his new position, he will manage FSB Public Affairs’ Orange County office, along with daily interaction with clients and client teams. “John’s background and experience throughout the country bring a fresh approach to CSG and further enhances our ability to meet clients’ needs across the political spectrum, and especially in California,” said CSG President and CEO Jeff Flint.
Zumper, a free online and mobile rental search marketplace, has named Darren Goode as its first chief marketing officer. Most recently, Goode was president, chief marketing & commercial officer at London-based women’s health technology company Elvie. He previously held senior marketing and general management leadership positions with L’Oreal, P&G, Paramount Pictures, Babylon Health and Apple, where he was head of Europe for iTunes. At Zumper, his responsibilities will encompass brand, creative, content, communications, product marketing and customer insights. The company says its platform receives 14 million visits every month.
